The ECAM © methodology, the basis of GYMCHESS ®, arises from the work carried out by a team of psychologists and high-level chess players with users from the field of active aging, mental health, rehabilitation of addictions and other fields of psychosocial intervention.

Juan Antonio Montero

Juan Antonio has a degree in Psychology from the University of Seville. President of the Club Magic Extremadura Deportivo-Social. Inventor of the ECAM Methodology. He is an international reference in chess and in its applications in the social and therapeutic fields. Writer and lecturer, he has published two manuals on psychometry and psychological evaluation, and another two on chess themes, “The Chess Phrase Book” and “Chess at your fingertips, from zero to one hundred years”Director of the magazine Ajedrez Social y Terapeútico, he regularly participates in important forums on these topics.

Manuel Pérez Candelario

Manuel Pérez Candelario is an International Chess Grandmaster. A member of the Spanish Olympic Team, he accumulates a record of numerous individual (Spanish under 21 , University champion, as well as important international tournaments) and teams titles (four Spanish championships, two runners-up, one European Championship). He has been for many years in the top ten in the Spanish Chess ranking.

Coach of some of the best female chess players in the country and of several young talents, he is an expert in teaching chess online, he is totally involved in social intervention and he collaborated from the beginning in the creation of the ECAM Methodology.

Leontxo García

Leontxo is one of the most renowned chess journalists in the world. He is the advisor for educational chess of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Commissioner of the Spanish Pavilion at the Dubai Expo. Leontxo writes a daily column in the newspaper El País and has collaborated with: Cadena Ser; RNE; TVE; EFE Agency, etc. He is the author of several books and a regular speaker on topics such as “Chess the best gym of the mind: how chess can delay brain aging”. He has the Sports Merit Medal; Goodwill Ambassador of Chess Award; the Golden Pawn as the best specialized journalist. He is a FIDE chess Master.

Asier Rufino

Asier has been linked to technological innovation and entrepreneurship for 23 years. He has lived 13 years in the USA; United Kingdom; France; Ireland; Dubai working for: Accenture; BNP Paribas; Dubai Health Authority; The Parthenon Group (EY). He has co-founded Business Angels Crecer + (Orkestra) and Tecnalia Ventures. He is on the board of the TTO Circle of the European Commission (G-30 of European TTOs). He is a professor at Deusto; He regularly participates in conferences and roundtables on deep tech entrepreneurship and is an advisor to various start-ups. He has a degree in business from the UPV / Erasmus at the University of Reims; MBA from LBS / Sloan MIT in Entrepreneurship and VC-PE. He is a FIDE chess Master.
